The National Park-to-Park Tour
3 Summers
10 States
30 National Parks
A venture through the Parks to commemorate, explore, celebrate, and inspire. Three 30-day trips that will excite parents, kids, veterans, conservationists, animal protectors, historians, and park lovers
The National Park-to-Park Tour encourages Americans to visit our public lands as a unique way to explore our history and share our nation’s beauty and legacy with our children.
Sharing Legacy through Parks
Chris is a combat-wounded veteran who hopes to share his legacy and what he fought for overseas by introducing his daughters to our National Parks.
Claire is teenaged environmentalist who shares ideas about clean air, “leave no trace”, and other environmental issues from the perspective of a young person.
Emma is an animal lover highlighting the plights and recoveries of endangered species in our National Parks through the voice of youth.
Inspired by a True Story
In 1920, AAA sponsored a band of automobile enthusiasts on a trip to 12 National Parks over 76 days to promote the “Good Roads” movement. This trip celebrates the Centennial Anniversary of the National Park-to-Park Highway Tour by following the original route to visit 24 Parks over three summers.
“I served my country in combat. As a veteran, I view America’s National Parks as a tangible representation of what I fought for. So, I want to share and experience them with my daughters.”
Every Kid Outdoors
Since 2015, the National Park Service’s Every Kid in a Park program—now Every Kid Outdoors—has welcomed fourth graders and their families into parks free of charge. The National Park-to-Park Tour will celebrate two “Every Kid Outdoors” Summers and inspire 4th graders across the country to lead their families into Parks.
Addressing Climate Change
The evidence of climate change is all too obvious in national parks. In many cases the impacts threaten the very existence of our preserved natural spaces. The National Park-to-Park Tour will do our part to bring attention to climate change-related issues that we encounter.
