Joshua Tree
National Park

Joshua Tree National Park is a scenic marvel and an explorers wonderland. Located in souther California at the intersection of the Mojave and Colorado Deserts, this place become a national monument in 1936 and was designated a national park in 1994.

Our visit to Joshua Tree is not part of our three-summer road trip series. Even though Joshua Tree is more-or-less along the 1920 Park-to-Park Highway Tour route that we are following, we want to visit outside of the heat of summer. We’ll visit Barker Dam, Skull Rock, and Keys View. We’ve planned hikes at Lost Horse Mine, Panorama Loop, Wonderland of Rocks, and Lost Palms Oasis. And of course, with more than 9,000 identified routes, we hope to do some rock climbing at this climbers mecca.
